Robbie Williams – Electric Proms

One night. One popstar. He’s a little older, a little more settled, and he has a few greys. But then again, his fans are too. As I wrote in an earlier post on Robbie’s new album Reality Killed the Video Star, it’s been three years since we’ve seen a live concert. So as you’d expect, there were a few bumps, but who cares. I liked it.

There was a rather distracting, rather wasted tall girl in the front row who was distracting by virtue of being distracted most of the time. And the edit was obviously cut by a child, but to me that adds to the allure of live performance. You get to see what things actually sound like. It’s (admittedly only very mildly) less manufactured, less polished. And I like that.

On a totally unrelated note, here’s a video of Robbie covering the Killers song ‘Human’ at the BBC live lounge. And when you’ve watched that, watch him sing ‘Bodies’ at the same gig.
